ABOUT ME

Laurie Fairlie Weil is a registered Suzuki Flute Teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.  She has been teaching Suzuki Flute lessons since 1994.  Laurie has completed and registered Suzuki flute teacher training for ECC, books 1–8, books 9 and 11 (Mozart Concerti Overview), Teaching Tone and Expression throughout the Suzuki Repertoire and additional supplemental Suzuki courses.  Her training includes several courses of study with Toshio Takahashi, founder of the Suzuki Flute method.

 

Laurie is the Suzuki Flute Teacher with the Suzuki Collaborative of Cincinnati Public Schools, teaching elementary students from across the Cincinnati Public School district.  She also teaches flute at Walnut Hills High School and in her private studio.  She has been a guest clinician at several Denison University Suzuki Winter Festivals.

 

Laurie performed for 10 years with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra (formerly Northern Kentucky Symphony) and has been a member of various classical, Celtic, folk/jazz ensembles in the Cincinnati area. She has recorded several CDs with a variety of musicians, including an album with her band, King Penguin. She currently freelances in the Cincinnati area.

 

Laurie holds a degree in Music Therapy from Ohio University. She is a board-certified music therapist who worked for 20 years in adolescent and child psychiatry. Her training includes workshops in art, movement, drama and experiential therapies. In addition, she is a Musikgarten-trained teacher.
